Amerigo Vesuvio Pinerolo (so the nice calfskin leather - beautiful and so comfy!) saddle in a 17.5" seat with a +2 tree (I would consider this a med/wide tree). I purchased this for one of my horses last year when he was overly plump, and now that he has slimmed down, he fits one of my other saddles so I no longer need this one. I'd keep it, but I really need a 17" seat instead, so while I still like this one and find it super comfortable, it needs to go to someone that it will fit. The leather is a beautiful dark brown calfskin and is in excellent condition except for the bottom of the right flap, which has some wear on it, which I show in the photos. The outer calfskin covering has worn a bit in that area so it is roughened slightly and there is one small spot where it has worn through the calfskin covering to the hardy leather underneath. This was present when I bought the saddle and has not worsened in the time that I have used it, so I must not be a heavy-right-legged as the previous owner! The bottom of the other flap has a slight bit of wear, also pictured, but very minor and not at all unexpected in a used calfskin saddle. The seat is in perfect condition - I'm sure no one rode in jeans on this as the seat and the upper flaps are in perfect condition - and there are no blemishes besides previously mentioned flap wear. Billets are in great shape and tightly attached, and still have original billet covers.
The Vesuvio rides similar to the DJ, I felt, and this horse was equally happy in a DJ tree or Vesuvio, but I suspect the Vesuvio is a bit more curvy (but not as curvy as that on the Amerigo Close Contact). The tree is wider than that on my medium tree County Stabilizer, and I'll get some measurements and add them later today.
Serial number stamped on it is 17,5N2226057 2 +2. Indicates that it is a 17.5 seat, with normal (N) flap, saddle number is 2226, manufactured in May 2007 ("057"), "2" I think has to do with the flocking (?), and the +2 means it is 2 cm wider than a medium tree. I find the Amerigo "medium" seems to run narrow, so I would call this one a med/wide. I'll add measurements when I can double check them as I forgot to write them down and not trusting my middle age memory!
New, this is a $5,000 saddle, with the top of the line Pinerolo leather. If it were in perfect shape, I'd be asking more than $2,000, but since it does have the blemish, I'm going to price it at $1,900 and will ship for free in the US. Will include the original twill Amerigo saddle cover. I really don't want to do trials unless it is someone local to me (SW WA), and will just consign it elsewhere (at a much higher price, I'm sure) if I don't sell it soon on my own.
PM for any more information, and I'll include a photo link below.
